Stacey Leon Ward

July 07, 1962 - April 21, 2020

Obituary

Stacey Leon Ward, 57, passed away on April 21, 2020, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  His funeral service will be held virtually at 11 A.M. at www.gutschurch.churchonline.org on Saturday, April, 25, 2020.  Stacey was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Ernest Leon Ward and Patrichia Anne Ward on July 7, 1962.  He spent his entire life in Tulsa with the exception of a short stint at Connors State College where he played baseball and was known for his left handed pitch and dug out antics.  Stacey was a hard-worker who carried that skill over to many trades but officially started his dream career with the Tulsa Fire Department in 1985.  Throughout his 24 years of service, he built a reputation of being a reliable and fearless firefighter who wouldn’t let anything get in the way of saving lives and fulfilling his duties.  The best example of this is how quickly he surrendered his vacation time to volunteer to help rescue efforts after the Oklahoma City bombing. Stacey was also most certainly the one who would bring a smile to your face when you needed it most.  He was constantly making people laugh, ensuring everyone was having a good time, and truly just cared deeply for every person he met. Stacey faced a motorcycle accident in 2007 that left him paralyzed which is the only reason he chose to retire in 2009.  The trials he faced after his accident never phased his outlook and he spent his days ensuring everyone knew how blessed he was.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother and is survived by his brothers Terry Ward and Brian Ward and their families and by his daughter, Kayla Ward Hingle, son-in-law Nicholas Hingle, granddaughter, Hattie Hingle, and son Dalton Ward.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Hydrants of Hope or Oklahoma Firefighters’ Burncamp in memory of Stacey Ward.

Please be on the lookout for a celebration of life in his honor later this summer.
