Obituary

Stephanie “Sissy” Parker was born to Shirley Ann Hutton and Ronnie Parker on February 27th, 1966 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was later reared by her maternal grandparents Hoy and Bernice “DeeCee” Motley, whom she lovingly referenced as “Mama and Daddy.” She often reflected on how mama lived in the “church house,” and thus recognized Christ as her savior at an early age.She attended Booker T. Washington High School where she excelled in many activities, including being a member of The Perfection of The T-Connection band dance ensemble. With Education being the driving force of her life, Sissy continued her education at Langston University—majoring in criminal justice. During her matriculation at Langston University, she was active in many organizations including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

At the precious age of twenty she became a mother to her first-born child, Brandon Parker. Nine years later, she would have her second, Kelsey Cozart.

Sissy had drive and ambition, and she was determined to be successful. She became devoted to her many positions at Core Civic (formally Corrections Corporations of America—CCA). Within her company she had the opportunity to move to Tallahassee, FL and later made her home in Nashville, TN. As the Director of Investigations for Core Civic, she had the opportunity to lead with an iron fist while subduing her softer, silly side.

She was a strong, hard working, and independent woman who had a very simple side to her. Her favorite past times included: shopping for clothes on weekends, eating, watching television, and laughing.

On the evening of October 16th, 2017 in Nashville, TN, God called her name to join Him in heaven. There, she reunited with her mother, Shirley Ann McGlory, her father, Ronnie Parker, grandmother, Bernice “DeeCee” Motley, and grandfather, Hoy Motley.

Loved ones left behind to Celebrate her life include: her Son Brandon Parker, her daughter Kelsey Cozart, Sisters Donna Woods, Crystal Haynes, and LaShon Cooper, great aunt Rosie Thomas, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
