Obituary

Tulsa, Oklahoma: The Lord Jesus Christ stopped by our house on September 6th, 2024, and took my beloved wife, Sybil Frances Ferguson (nee Reaves), 73, back with Him to the place He had prepared for her. Now she is living life more abundantly and serving the Lord in the expanse of Heaven.

While on earth, she spent her life making a beautiful and peaceful home and garden where family and visitors felt welcome, comfortable, and safe. She was a wonderful conversationalist who listened more than she spoke and was more interested in others than herself. She knew what she wanted and strived to achieve it. Sybil was a loyal and faithful wife who worked hard to make her husband’s life better. She personified the “Wife of Noble Character” in Proverbs 31. She had a green thumb and maintained a traffic stopping front yard flower garden.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bruce, and her two brothers John and James. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 3:23-24 – for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

John 17:3 – And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

    Bruce,
I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. My heart is heavy for you and your family, having experienced a similar loss over a year and 9 months ago. Even knowing my precious wife is with our Lord, my grief and loneliness remains. I read that while grief is a measure of immediate loss, it can be considered equally as a reflection of everlasting love and shared respect.
Even though we’ve never met beyond our mutual group membership, your elegant and moving eulogy, and personalization, described such a lovely person. I can only say that you are indeed blessed to have shared a lifetime of precious moments with Sybil.
Please forgive my tardiness in receiving and responding. At 84, my family tends to coddle me and keep me busy in some manner – and away from my home and computer.

Sincerely, Your Friend and Silent Warrior,
    Bob Atherton
