Obituary

A memorial service for Mr. T.L. Carter will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2:00 p.m., at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Memorial Chapel.

Celebration of Life

TL Carter Sr was born April 6th 1936 to the late Hunter and Pearline Carter in Mansfield Louisiana.  TL was the oldest of four children.  His twin brother CL, Hattie and Dillard, they all preceded him in death.  He graduated from Booker T Washington High School in Houston Texas.

Carter, as he was affectionately called. along with his twin brother CL join the US Marines.  Carter received an Honorable Discharged for his service April  29th 1962.  Carter moved to Tulsa Oklahoma and worked as a private chauffeur for many years.   Carter was a former member of Vernon AME Church under the leadership of the late Rev Ben Hill.

As, most of you know, Carter LOVED the casino and wearing hats.  Carter never left the house without wearing a hat. Carter could regularly be seen playing poker or at and the slot machines while wearing his hat.  Carter was friends with everyone that worked and played at the casino.  Carter

On Thursday, May 23, 2024, TL Carter Sr peacefully transitioned.

Carter was preceded in death by his late wife Bernice Guyton Carter, Kenneth Carter(son), Tina Carter(granddaughter)

Carter leaves to cherish his memories five children: Horatio Carter (Johnnie Mae Norman); Sheila Carter (Vergerlene Carter); TL Carter (Vergerlene Carter); Thomas Carter (Vergerlene Carter); Mark Carter (Vergerlene Carter).  Grandchildren:  Horatio Jr. (Horatio); Racha (Horatio); Chelsea (Sheila); Chris (Sheila); Terrance (TL); Jamaal (TL); Siarah (TL); Tyler (TL); TL III (TL); Denzel (Thomas); Kayla (Thomas); Ethan (Thomas); Wilma Jean (Mark); Chloe (Mark)and a host of great grands children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
