Obituary

Mrs. Verna Louise Ernst of Bixby, Oklahoma passed away on May 27, 2022. Mrs. Ernst was born on April 1, 1935 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 

 

The family of Mrs. Ernst will be accepting friends on Wednesday, June 1, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., at Stanley’s Funeral Home. 

Public visitation will be held on Thursday, June 2, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., at Stanley’s Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3, 10:00 a.m., at Stanley’s Memorial Chapel, 3959 E. 31st St., Tulsa, Oklahoma followed by interment at Haner Cemetery, Locust Grove, OK.

Verna Louise Ernst was born to the late Vernon and Edna Silkey, in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 1, 1935.

 

She went to Tulsa Business College after high school and then worked for the Gas and Electric Company working in accounts receivable and accounts payable. She also worked for Dr. Billy James Hargus where was over the mailing department. Her most treasured job was working at Trinity Episcopal Church where was over the nursery for several years. She took care of the babies so lovingly.

 

Verna married her life-long love, J.F. Ernst on November 26, 1953, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was blessed with a large and loving family. Together they had three children, Merlin of Tulsa, OK, Karen Nourse and husband Mike of Kellyville, OK, and Sarah Parnell and husband Michael of Kellyville, OK. She was also known as, “Grammie” to 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

 

Verna was dearly loved by so many.

She left a legacy of love and kindness. We’ll miss her so…
