Obituary

Wanda J. Souders, 87, passed peacefully on December 14, 2020.  She was born June 13, 1933, to Ralph and Mallie Boston in Jackson County, Missouri.  Wanda graduated from Lathrop High School, in Lathrop, MO in 1951 and worked at the mail-order company National Bellas Hess for a year before her marriage. 

In 1952 she married Irvin Souders in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by loved ones and together they shared many adventures.  Wanda was a beloved mother to her four daughters and aside from raising them, her great joy in life was sharing the gospel.  She did so by working in and running multiple children’s ministries throughout the years.

After retirement, she enjoyed supporting the student athletes at her home church’s school and became a surrogate grandmother to many of them. 

Wanda was universally loved by everyone who was lucky enough to meet her. 

Wanda was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Bob & Sam, and her younger sister Barbara. 

Surviving in addition to her husband are her brother, Denzil, her children; Joy (Momo), Diana (Dave), Lyla (Todd), and Robin (Mike), her grandchildren; Michael, Shawna, Sierra, Annie, Kai, Kori, Kenji, Koji, Derek, Kimberly, Shawn, Jessica, Jason, Jon, Jody, & Raven, numerous great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Those who wish to remember Wanda in a special way may make gifts in her memory to a children’s ministry of their choosing or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
