Obituary

William James Gilmore Sr. was born February 9 , 1924 in Logansport , Indiana to Conant and Lena Gilmore . He was the second of 4 sons. He also had a sister , Georgia York . His childhood was spent in Canada and Oklahoma.. He married Ruby Alice Willis June 21 , 1942 and they had 3 children , William Gilmore Jr , Susan Jarvis and Linda Lane .

He served his country in the Navy , Army and National Guard . He was stationed in Japan with the occupation forces for 21 months .

He was discharged from the military in 1952 whereupon he entered college at John Brown University , Siloam Springs , Arkansas . He received his degree and then worked for the university until 1966. While in Arkansas he preached in many country churches in the surrounding community , pastoring Calvary Baptist church during the 60’s .

Bill and Ruby then moved to Tulsa , Oklahoma in 1966 where he worked for Tulsa University until he retired .

He is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years in 2015 .

Services will be Monday , July 24 at 10:00 am at Bellevue Baptist church , 1040 N Yale with internment at Woodland Memorial Park , Sand Springs, Oklahoma
