Obituary

William Henry “Hank” Chenault, 80, of Owasso, died Saturday, September 10, 2011. Born in Tulsa to Clara Morgan and Charles Bruce Chenault, March 23, 1931, Hank attended El Monte High School in California and graduated in 1950. He returned to Tulsa soon after and married LaQuita Joan Elzey in 1951, residing in Tulsa before deployment to Korea with the U.S. Army Asked what he did for a living he responded, “Just about everything.” He was a generalist who had a keen mechanical bent. He roofed, built cabinets, framed housing, bored pipelines, drove trucks and built a small tractor from salvaged parts, used on his farm. He built a barn there that housed the goats he raised. Later he sold and installed laminate and tile; many homes and commercial buildings still contain his expert installations. Hank was an active member of Southern Hills Baptist Church, working with their mission team in Vladimir, Russia, installing tile at an orphanage and helping with housing reconstruction in post Katrina Mississippi as well as keeping score for the youth basketball teams. He was sociable and loved attending square dances in the area as a member of Single Squares. Survived by his son Andre and siblings: Clara Mildred Vichare and Harold Chenault of CA; Wesley Kyle Chenault of Tulsa; nieces and nephews; Sandy Payne of Owasso, Russell and Floyd Chenault of Tulsa, Deborah Trapp of Broken Arrow and Lisa Gahm of Simpsonville, SC. Visitation Tuesday at Butler Stumpff; service Wednesday 2:00 p.m. at Southern Hills Baptist Church.

Hank was one of those gentle guys with whom women enjoyed square dancing. I don't know of a single negative statement ever said about him. The square dancing world has lost a good guy who will be greatly missed.
