Obituary
Alice Elizabeth Barker, 94, passed away October 27, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born October 20, 1923 in Ft. Smith to John and Lily Kehoe. She attended Immaculate Conception school and graduated from Ft. Smith High School. She was a longtime member of Christ The King Catholic Church. She went to work for Southwestern Bell and during World War II was a switchboard operator at the Pentagon. Alice married Bill Barker in 1947 and together they raised two children. Later in life, she went to work as a bank teller for Merchants National Bank, retiring after 10 years. To many, she will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and generous heart. To her family, she was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother. We all appreciated her love of music and will always recall her dancing to the beat of her Big Band Music.
She is survived by one daughter, Krin Tassone (Jeff) of Tulsa and one son, John Barker (Leigh Ann) of Ft. Smith; 2 grandsons, Shane (Ana) of Fayetteville and Nick (Erin) of Ft. Smith; 3 great grandchildren; Olivia, Sydney and Isabel.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband of 56 years W.H. “Bill” Barker.
Private family services will be held with burial to take place at the Ft. Smith National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
Services are entrusted to Butler-Stumpf Funeral Home, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
