Obituary

Betty June Caughey was born April 9th 1925 in Beggs, OK to Louis Lee and Marie “MeMe” Cox. She is survived by her sister Lillian “Aunt Lil” Warlick; 2 daughters, Cathy Wehrspann of Jenks and Chris Gehrke of Tulsa; 1 son, Chuck Caughey of Tulsa; 4 granddaughters; and 3 grandsons; 1 great-granddaughter; and 2 great-grandsons. Betty attended Lowel School and Tulsa Central High School. Betty was the faithful and loving wife for more that 58 years to Charles Edward Caughey Jr. Betty served as the sole caregiver for the final seven years of his life after he suffered a debilitating stroke in 1998, and was the primary caregiver for her sister Lillian, (86 yrs.), since 1997. Betty was a true friend to all and a faithful member and supporter of several local area churches and ministries in Tulsa and abroad. Serving as Secretary of Records for several over the past sixty years. Betty was a fulltime mother and homemaker spanning from the early days of electricity to the modern convenience of the computer age. Early in Betty’s marriage, she recognized her ability to extend love and care for new born children in need of a family. This resulted in over a dozen infants patiently receiving their first months foundation in life under her expert loving care. For over twenty years Betty was a faithful supporting member of Soul’s Harbor Church in Tulsa. She loved her church family, as they did her. Betty passed away on Wednesday evening, December 2nd 2009. She was 84. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 10:00 am, Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Butler-Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel, 2103 E. 3rd Street, Tulsa. 587-7000.
