A life well lived,

Christian Dion Thompson

Christian Dion Thompson was born to Gertrude Thompson, and George Washinton on February 25th, 1970, in Tulsa Oklahoma.  In the first year of his life, he was adopted by Margaret and Norman Wayne Henderson.  It was discovered very early in his life that Chris had musical talent.  At five years old he was taking pots out of his mother’s kitchen cabinets and breaking combs in the house, learning to play drums!  It was in a church service that the spirit was very high, and the drummer was being prayed for, and suddenly, the drums were being played!  Chris was too little to sit on the seat, so he pushed the seat back and was standing while playing the drums!  Chris gave his life to God at an early age.  From there he began to have a passion for the keyboard.  He learned to play by ear and began to train under Floyd Wiley and Andrew Embry.  By the time he was a young adult he began playing in his father’s church, and other churches in the city.  Chris and his brother Dwayne began to sing together and called themselves the Henderson Brothers.  Chris began to play for the duo, and they sang in several churches around the city.  He had a special bond with his sister Iona Rena, as they shared the same birthday.  Chris married Brenda Jones and to this union a daughter Christian (Christy) was born.  Later Chris married Ozette Jones, and to this union two sons Tristan, and Jmani were born.  Although these marriages were dissolved, Chris continued to connect with his children throughout his life.  Chris became embedded in the music community and played for several churches, several groups, several bands and even toured with a play!  It was in 2019 that Chris met Suzeth Bishop and fell madly in love.  They married in 2020, and Chris gained a bonus son in Maleik McBroom.

Chris had a personality that was infectious and loved to have a good time.  Once he considered you a friend, he made it his business to regularly call and stay connected with you!  At the end of his life, he began to call or face time his friends and family to tell them he loved them and that he was facing the ultimate end with faith, and grace.

Chris was preceded in death by his birth parents, Gertrude Thompson and George Washington, and his adopted parents Margaret and Norman Henderson as well as two sisters Pauletta and Quincella and a brother Gerry Walker.  He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife Suzeth, and children Christian (Christy), Tristan, Jmani and Maleik (Makenzie).  His Grandchildren: Kaydence, Travon, Kristan, Maleiah, and Melanie.  His siblings: Dwayne Henderson (CoJuan), Bishop J. Marvin Henderson (Cierra), Dorothy Henderson, Steven Thompson (Castenia), Keith Thompson, Sanford Thompson (Tina), James Thompson, Iona Rena McNeely (Hartwell), Terry Thompson,  Uncles K.C. Long and Edroy McQuarters Jr, an Aunt Vina Simmons as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
