Obituary

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, from 2:00p.m.-5:00p.m. at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 26, 1:00 p.m. at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Memorial Chapel followed by interment at Crown Hill Cemetery.

 

Maureen Elizabeth Williams 

Maureen was a beautiful baby girl, born to parents Richard Johnson and Jean Francis Barnett, on December 12, 1942.  She was also the great-granddaughter of Ketch Barnett, a leader of the Creek Freedmen Nation and Pastor of the Old Fountain Church, Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Maureen was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Raised in Compton, California. Later, moved to San Diego, California where she met and married Jack Ross Jones (preceded her in death). There were six children from the marriage, Jacquelyn E. (Kirk) Lee, Samra D. Jones, Freddie R. Jones (preceded her in death), Jack Ross Jones Jr. (preceded her in death), Dana P. Jones (preceded her in death), and Cheryl L. Carter.

In 1970, Maureen moved to Tulsa, OK. and eventually, met, and united in Holy matrimony Charles O. Williams, Pastor of Hilltop Baptist Church (who preceded her in death).Tulsa, Oklahoma. July 31, 2011, Maureen became a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church.

Maureen “Moe”, retired from American Airlines. She was also a dental assistant at Morton Health Clinic.

Maureen’s favorite hobby was crocheting and traveling.

Maureen loved and was loved by her Beloved brother Donald R. Smith and their sister Pamela Stokes. Grandmother to 13 grandchildren,12 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces, 2 nephews. Including, a host of family and friends. Adorably, known as G-Momma to 5 Godchildren.

After eight months of being hospitalized, God saw the road was getting rough. The hill was hard to climb. He gently closed her eyes and whispered, “Peace be Thine.” The weary hours, the days of pain. The sleepless nights have passed. The forever patient, the worn-out frame; On January 10, 2024, Maureen Williams has found sweet rest at last.
