November 15, 1950 - January 09, 2017

God saw Melvin was getting tired and on January 9th, 2017 he slept away peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father. Melvin was born November 15, 1950 to Marion and Esther Beauchamp in Willis, Texas. “Brother”, as he was so  affectionately called by his siblings, graduated from Turner High School.

He met the love of his life Phyllis Harland with whom he joined hands in marriage (34 years) and brought forth two children LaToya and Jamel. At an early age, Melvin accepted Christ at his grandfathers, Reverend Walter Harris’, Church, he rededicated his life to Christ and joined St. Andrew Baptist Church where he was a member of the Brotherhood Chorus. He lived a full life of joy, love and laughter.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Phyllis; one son: Marquis; daughters: LaTasha, LaToya, and Chapelle; sisters: Rose Potts of Kansas City, MO, Lolita Beauchamp of Richmond VA, Pearl (Ernest) Simpson, Gwen Williams of Conroe, TX; Sisters-in-law: Cherlyn Rushing of Tulsa, OK and Dannette Rushing of McAlester, OK; Brothers-in-law Ervan (Trina) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kevin of Tulsa, and Richard (Tina) of McAlester, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your dear loved one. Please accept my condolences at this painful time. Losing a loved one is distressing and as comfort is needed from family and friends, we have assurance from the Bible that "death will be swallowed up forever" at Isaiah 25:8. It is my hope your family will find strength to endure during the days ahead.

The Almighty has promised that he will heal the broken-hearted and bind up their wounds. During this time in your life, the wounds are deep and open. Psalms 147:3 Trust in that promise to sustain you during your bereavement.
