Obituary
Reggin Lee Morris was born July 27, 1949 to Johnnona Harriett Emerson and Lee Morris in Tulsa, OK. He attended Dunbar Elementary, Carver Jr High School, and soon thereafter became a “Mighty- Mighty Hornet”. No, not a literal hornet, you see, he attended and graduated from Booker T. Washing High School here in Tulsa, OK
Did you know he played a Trombone? He also loved art, cars, music, sipping hot tea and a host of things but let’s not forget- GIRLS! Our father had beautiful women in his life and they all shared his warmth, humor, mischievous, shyness, love, and affection.
Joyce Annette Harding- from their marital union gave birth to a beautiful elegant daughter to whom is his first born named -Tonya Faye Morris.
Edwina Elizabeth McDaniel- gave birth to his very soft hearted and protective 1st son- Reggin Lee Morris Jr. and soon thereafter came a set of twins whom both have a loving spirit. Can you imagine that surprise? She had a girl and named her -Teresa Monique Morris with brownish eyes and another son named- Terry Richard Morris, to whom has the blue eyes of our grandmother Johnnonna.
Sharon K.(Cissy) Morris – from their marital union came a brown eyed curly hair little girl with a smile that lights up the world and her name is Angel Dawn Morris.
Our Dad served in the Armed Forces and did his Basic Training and Advance Infantry Training (AIT) at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and he also went on to serve in the Vietnam War.
Our father had four sibling and their names are Edwin Newkirk, Louise Emerson (Smith), Andrew Collier. He loved them and He said, “We are Family”. Did we forget something? Oh, no- we didn’t forget? We want to describe the sibling closest to our dad’s heart. Yes, it’s true and that is our Uncle Clark Morris. The bond of love between those two was one that was unspoken and the love ran deeper than any abyss or for that matter than most oceans. When our dad spoke of him, he would sit up and smile really bright and get that little boy smile and then the resonance in his voice would change. “Clark is my “blank” well let’s just not say that word, but we all know what he would say.
We’ll just say, “Clark was his heart”. Uncle Clark has always said, “Reggin- My Big Brother- he was always my protector and that Reggin always shielded me from harm”.
In past conversation with him, one thing that he held close to his heart was family. In a letter our dad wrote, “I have plenty of love to deliver. You often speak of family- Family means A complete UNIT of people completely depending on each other, you (Teresa) and your husband are family, Terry and his wife are family, Reggin and his wife and children are family, Clark and his wife and children are family, my sister and her husband are family, Tonya and her husband and child are family, Me, Cissy and Angel are family. Me and Clark and Louise and Mama are Family. So, if you look at it we are all part of a family and that’s good in my eyes, I see no reason to except one and leave the others”.
Let us focus our minds and hearts on the fact that we love this man dearly and never lose sight of who he was at heart and we are family – A complete UNIT, holding each other up as we grieve the loss of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. LOVE ALWAYS AND FOREVER HIS CHILDREN, Teresa, Terry, Angel, Tonya and Reggin JR
Quote:
“Now I do have a goal to make everybody around me happy, secure, honest, and trouble free, but you know what- I can’t do it- but I will try”. Reggin Lee Morris
