Sophia Elizabeth was born on July 17, 1934 in Oak Harbor, Ohio to Andrew and Eva (Whiting) Throne.
Growing up, Sophia loved to sing church songs and sang with her siblings. She also played musical instruments. Sophia was a happy child but would cry if she didn’t get all A’s on her report card. She graduated from Oak Harbor High School in Ohio in 1952.
She was married at the age of 20 but never had any children.
She loved to travel and took many trips to Mexico.
Sophia worked for American Airlines as a trainer for new employees until she took an early retirement at the age 60 due to the development of macular degeneration. She was legally blind in her last 26 years of life and spent many hours listening to the radio.
Sophia was a member of Asbury Methodist Church and was apart of the Sunday’s School Basix Class.
Sophia lived independently in her apartment until she fell causing a fracture in November of 2019. She then lived in an assisted living facility from January 2020 until her passing on April 18, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Eva Throne; brothers, Harold Throne and Raymond Throne; and sister, Helen Throne Lavall.
She is survived by her sister, Mildred Williams of Mexico along with several nieces and nephews.
