Obituary
Vernon Ray Guess (80) born November 4, 1939 in Santa Barbara passed from this world on August 16th 2020. He was preceded in death by his mother Addie, father Vernon Patton, brother Wesville.
Survived by his two sisters June and Karen, wonderful wife of 39 years Roberta; daughter Kimberly, two sons, Vernon Oliver, wife Elly and Victor Ray, wife Karen; 5 grandchildren Holle’, Kayci, Kaydn, Annabeth, and Gage. Vern, as many knew him, loved all things trains—from narrow gauge to standard gauge he could tell you all about them. A life long member of the National Model Railroad Association, he enjoyed modeling O scale 2 rail in his early years, along with his father.
Vern was a mold-breaker when it came to traveling layouts, building family/personal layouts showing them off at different train shows. He had one of the largest HO scale circus, train, and carnival layouts that traveled from Dallas to Canada with eye catching animation and detail. Later in life, he started modeling in G gauge where the family layout was a centerpiece of the 2011 National Convention.
Vern helped in the completion and restoration of a handful of full sized circus wagons that are on display at the Circus World Museums. His talents and smile will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Friday, September 4, 2020 at the Collinsville Church of Christ, 1010 W. broadway, Collinsville, OK.
