Obituary

Lt. Col. William Harry Churchill III lost his 6 year battle with lung cancer and passed from this life on November 27, 2020.

Bill was born in Tulsa, OK March 16, 1946. He served his country as a fighter pilot in the US Air Force for 22 years and saw combat in Vietnam. He loved to travel and fly A-10s. Upon retirement, he volunteered at Bixby Public Schools where his daughter and daughter-in-law both taught. He was a whiz with computers and loved having the latest electronic innovation and/or gadget.

Bill was a kind, generous and a loving family man. Most of all Bill loved being a Grandpa. Affectionately known as “Geeps” (short for Grandpa) to family and friends, he would do anything for his wife, granddaughters and family. All you had to do was mention something and there was either an Amazon package or he was out in the garage building it or fixing it for you. He was the person to go to for advice on any matter you were struggling with. Geeps was happy to take the family to his favorite place, Disney World, and to spoil his granddaughters at Christmas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, W.H. Churchill Jr. and Bette McKendry Churchill, and his brother Robert “Bob” Churchill. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Sanders Churchill, his children, Jennifer Churchill, William Michael “Mike” Churchill, and Brandi Brown Churchill, his granddaughters, Leyna Churchill, Kyra Churchill, and Emma Churchill and his brothers, Charles Churchill, Richard Churchill, and Currie Churchill, and his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
