Richard Dale Larson
Richard Dale (Dick) Larson passed away peacefully at his home in Locust Grove, OK on Friday September 4, 2020.
He was the son of Dewey Sampson Larson and Mable Edith (Kennedy) Larson. Richard was born on July 11, 1932 at the family home south of Vega, Texas.
He attended Amarillo High School. He played the drums in the high school band and also played the kettledrums in the Amarillo High School Orchestra.
Richard attended West Texas State College in Canyon, Texas and majored in music.
Richard married Janet Sue McLain on May 7, 1975 in Clovis, New Mexico.
He worked as a truck driver, diesel mechanic and a dispatcher at Safeway for 27 years . After he retired from Safeway he drove a school bus for Tulsa Public Schools and Locust Grove Public Schools.
Richard attended Little Rock Freewill Baptist Church in Locust Grove, OK.
He enjoyed golfing, carpentry, mission work, traveling and spending time with his family. He also loved his dogs, Lucy, Erin and Piggy and cats Lion King and Pumpkin
Richard considered himself a jack of all trades but a master of none.
He is survived by his wife Janet Larson of 45 years. Survivors include his children: Cathy Varga ( Frank) , Janet Blackburn ( John ), William Larson, ( Kathy ) , Virginia Hill, Jimmy Larson ( Goldie ), Marji Bourque ( Rick ), Robert Larson ( Elizabeth ) , Michael Larson ( Dawn) all of Amarillo, Texas. Jilinda Dick ( Steve ) of Sperry, OK., Jack Holderman ( Sandy ) of Stuttgart, AR., Jeffery Holderman ( Julie ) of Parker, Co., Jennifer Hernandez of Collinsville, Ok., Brianna Larson of Wichita, KS., David Petersen -deceased ( Heather) Manford, OK., 50 Grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, 10:00a.m., at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral 2103 E. 3rd Street, Tulsa, OK. Interment will follow immediately after service at Rolling Oaks Memorial Gardens.
